A vacuum valve must be installed on the cold water inlet in either a vertical or horizontal position to assure warranty coverage a Marathon water heater. Without a vacuum valve installed, a break in the main supply line can cause a vacuum within the water heating unit. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local Marathon dealer.

When should a vacuum relief valve be installed?
In addition to the requirements of paragraph (c)(1) of this section, the following requirements shall also apply: (i) The water temperature of the water tank, heater, or other water-related equipment must be maintained at a minimum of 70°F (21°C) at all times. (ii) All water tanks and other equipment shall have an automatic shut-off system that will automatically shut off the system when the temperature drops below the minimum temperature specified in this paragraph.
The system must have a self-closing mechanism that can be operated manually or by a remote control. If the automatic system is manually operated, it must operate in a manner that does not require the operator to press a button to turn it on or off.
Why is my water heater leaking from the pressure release valve?
Either the valve was triggered to open because of excessive temperature or pressure, or the pressure was too high, can cause the relief valve to start leaking. If the water is too hot or too cold, you may need to adjust your thermostat.
When should you use a vacuum breaker?
A vacuum breaker is an attachment commonly placed on a bibcock valve or toilet or urinal flush valve, that prevents water from being siphoned backward into the public drinking water system. The public drinking water system has a pressure drop.
Is it OK to drive with a vacuum leak?
Driving with a vacuum leak should not be done because it causes a loss of power to your engine. If the leak increases as you drive, this can be dangerous. If you have a leak in your vacuum hose, you can use a hose clamp to hold the hose in place.
If you do this, make sure that the clamp is tight enough to prevent the vacuum from leaking out. You can also use an air compressor to blow air in and out of your hose.
Will a vacuum leak throw a code?
A vacuum leak in an EVAP valve or tubing could cause an alarm to go off. If the vacuum is too low, the system will shut down and the vehicle will not be able to start.
Can a vacuum leak hurt your engine?
Driving with a vacuum leak elevates temperatures within the engine compartment by running on a lean air-fuel ratio. Over time, this mixture can damage pistons and bearings, and can move to other parts within the engine, such as the crankshaft and connecting rods. Diesel engines are designed to run on diesel fuel, which has a lower sulfur content than gasoline.
When diesel is burned, the sulfur in the fuel reacts with oxygen to form sulfuric acid. As a result of this reaction, diesel engines produce more carbon monoxide (CO), which is toxic to humans and other animals. Diesel engines also produce higher levels of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM), both of which are harmful to human health and the environment.
Is it better to clean or replace EGR valve?
The amount of nitrous oxide in your car can be reduced with a clean egr valve. It is possible to increase the longevity and performance of your car’s engine by cleaning the EGR valve. It’s a good idea to clean your exhaust gas recirculation valve as often as possible because it can damage both your vehicle and engine. The first step in cleaning an engine is to remove the intake manifold.
This is done by removing the two bolts that hold the manifold in place. Next, you’ll need to loosen the four bolts holding the exhaust manifold to the engine block. You can do this by loosening the bolts with a socket or wrench, or you can use a flathead screwdriver. Once you’ve loosened all four of these bolts, the next step will be to unscrew the valve cover gasket.
If you don’t have access to a wrench or socket, use your fingers to gently pry the cover off. The cover will come off easily, but it will take some force to do so. Be careful not to overdo it, as you may damage the gaskets in the future. Finally, remove all of the air filter grommets.
What will a stuck closed EGR valve do?
If the valve is stuck closed or the exhaust gas recirculation system is not working, the temperature increases. This could cause pinging, as well as surging on light acceleration. EGR valve is one of the causes of black smoke in a diesel engine. Engine light could come on in these situations.
If you have an engine that has been running for a long time, it may be time to replace it with a new one. If the engine is running well, you may not need to do this. However, if it is not running at all, and you are not sure what is causing it to run poorly, then you might want to have it checked out.
What happens if EGR valve is stuck open?
Problems with acceleration and rough idling are two of the most common indicators that the EGR valve is stuck open. The truck might stall a lot. This can cause the engine to stall, which can be a very dangerous situation for the driver and passengers in the vehicle.
If you notice that your engine stalls, it’s a good idea to check to see if the problem is related to the intake manifold. If it is, you’ll need to replace the manifold, as well as any other components that may be causing the issue.
Is vacuum relief valve same as pressure relief valve?
The primary purpose of a pressure relief valve is to protect the life and property of the system. The pressure relief valves can be used in a variety of applications, including, but not limited to, air-conditioning systems, refrigerators, freezers, water heaters, and the like.
