Valve seats should be replaced when they are pitted, chipped, or too damaged to re-cut. Seat replacements are necessary when the seat is too deep to be cut. If you have a seat that has been replaced, it is recommended that you replace it with a new seat. If you do not, the seat may not be able to support the weight of the vehicle and may be damaged beyond repair.
Can you change shower valve without removing tile?
If you are lucky, your shower control wall will be next to a wall that allows the plumbing person to access it by cutting the drywall on its opposite side. The valve will have to be accessed from the tiled side of the wall if this option is not available.
If your plumbing system is located in a basement or crawl space, you may want to consider installing a valve that will allow you to control the flow of water through the system. This is especially important if you have a leaky faucet, or if the water pressure is too low to allow for a proper flush.
What are the two types of valve seats?
In aluminum cylinder heads, the insert seats are pressed into the head. Some seats are hard cast and others are soft cast. The difference between the two is that the hard-cast insert seat is more rigid, while the soft-casting insert is softer. The integral seat has two parts – the valve seat and the camshaft seat. In the case of an aluminum head, both parts are cast in the same mold.
However, in some cases, the castings are different. If, on the other hand, it is a cast-from-a-solid-block-of-aluminum head that has been machined to a specific shape and is then cast into a casting mold, that casting is called an insert-seat. This is the most common type of seat used on aluminum heads, and it has the advantage of being easier to install and remove.
What causes valve seat damage?
The friction between the seats and the ball directly affects the torque required to turn the ball valve. A minimum seal force is required for a ball valve. The time it takes for the valve to open and close can be increased by excessive circumferential seal force.
