Many riders want you to simply add more sealant, but we prefer to remove the old stuff first. Water can be added to the mix since most of the seal latex has dried to the tire. We remove any remainging liquid from the floor. Once you’ve removed the sealers, you’re left with a very thin layer of rubber on the inside of your tire, which is why it’s called a “sealant layer.”
This is a good thing, because it prevents water from seeping into the sidewall and damaging the rubber. It’s also why you don’t have to worry about water getting into your tires if you use the right sealants. If you want to add a little bit of water to your mix, that’s fine too. Just make sure that the water doesn’t get in your sidewalls.
