Start Drilling Through Sills: Drilling is the first step in residential plumbing. To make room for the water pipes, begin drilling through the sill plates and below the floor. The water lines should run parallel to each other if your holes are at the same distance. Drill a 1/4-in. diameter hole in the bottom of each sill plate. This will allow water to drain out of the sink and into the drain.
You can also use a drill bit to drill a 3/8- in. hole, but this is not recommended because it can damage the sills.
