How do you do a valve adjustment?
Use a ring spanner to loosen the locknut and turn the screw clockwise to decrease the gap, and the opposite way to increase it. When the clearance is correct, hold the screw with a screwdriver while you tighten the lock nut. If so, remove it and replace it with one that has a locking screw.
If you have a lock nut that is too tight, you may need to tighten it by hand. You can do this by turning the nut counterclockwise until you hear a click, or by using a small screw driver to push the locking pin out of the way.
